Our Surgical Practice:

• Each individual surgery is done with a technician and doctor gloved and gowned to meet the most rigorous protocol for sterile technique. This includes: patients are clipped and surgically scrubbed before they enter the surgery room.

• Patients are placed on an anesthetic monitor tracking: pulse oxygen, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, EKG and respiratory rate.
  

• Every patient has an IV catheter put in place and are given IV fluids through an IV pump.  This allows for maintenance of proper circulation, rapid recovery from anesthesia and replacement of blood loss.  
  

• They are put on a warming blanket, to help maintain ideal body temperature. Maintenance of proper body temperature allows for fast anesthetic recovery, proper blood flow to all tissues and prevention of injury to organs.

• Upon completion of surgery, patients are placed in our ICU and monitored by a technician until they are recovered from anesthesia.

• Our surgery is one of the few in the area with positive pressure are flow, that pushes sterilized air into the room and prevents any contaminated air from outside entering the room.
• All air entering the room is sterilized using Ultraviolet light.
• Electro-cautery: cauterizes the incision as it is being made to minimize bleeding.
• We use Sevoflurane anesthesia which is the safest gas anesthetic in both veterinary medicine and human medicine.  Patients can recover from sevoflurane in a matter of minutes after a procedure is completed.
• All surgical equipment is ultrasonically cleaned to destroy pathogens, sterilized in an M11 autoclave, and then sterilely passed into surgery.

We only use the safest gas anesthesia and exact protocols for pain management.  Surgery in our facility is done with sterility, safety and relief of pain.
