I'm sick; can my dog or cat catch it?

Human colds are usually caused by a type of Rhinovirus that only affect people.  Respiratory infections between people and our pets is extremely rare and not a cause for alarm.

That said, ferrets CAN get the influenza virus (flu) from humans.  If you're sick and are unsure if it's a cold or flu, have yourself tested.  In the meantime, have another family member care for your ferret.
